Mystery of the vampire from grave 32: In 1950s in Slavonia a thousand years old skeleton was found, pierced with stake, severed head...

1950s of the past century and a group of archaeologists is researching an old Croatian gravesite, one over thousand years old, which is located at the fortified church in a place called Brodski Drenovac. At one point they stumble upon a grave of a woman that is unlike any others. The grave is most unusual by many things and they mark it with a number 32.

Archaeologists enter a brief description into their diaries and later reports which is telling us how a woman buried in grave 32 had a severed head. Before or after death, by all accounts, she was tortured and butchered. Thorax was severely damaged, like a steak went through it.

Unnamed woman, it is not even certain which nationality she belonged to, on her chest there was a necklace made with glass beans and a silver medallion, that was produced in Byzantine workshops at the time. On a finger of her right hand there was a silver ring, a symbol of a nobility.

Her head was severed and placed in a grave rotated, with her back head turned towards her neck. Position of her body was odd too, because all skeletons found in Brodski Drenovac were positioned with head to east, a direction of rising sun. Except skeleton from grave 32, which head was looking west, a direction where sun sets. Like her executioners wanted to say – ‘Only darkness awaits this person...’

All the other skeletons had their arms alongside their bodies, only hers were crossed on her chest. The archaeologist’s record reveals how – ‘during the cleaning of the grave, it could be ascertained that the bones and appendages had not been subsequently moved, and it was evident, by the position of the head that she was buried like that. Based on that, it can be assumed that this person had her head severed before the burial, and that she also was partially butchered.

A lot of these synth based genres that have been popping up in Metal subculture has been unique to say the least, however not many of the projects seem to do their subgenres justice in creating a truly good sound that isn't just a cute gimmick. This is one of the few times, where I feel some songwriting chops exist. The atmosphere created evokes the soundtracks from gritty 80s Fantasy movies. 3.5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
